Panasonic 624 Phone System

Following are a few items related to the programming and set up of the Panasonic 624 Telephone System.

DISCLAIMER: Make sure that you know enough about these steps before doing anything - we don't want to be (and aren't) responsible for any problems you might encounter. If this seems to be too much work, or you aren't comfortable with it, please make arrangements to hire someone to do this for you. These items have not yet been verified to be 100% correct (due to system versions).

Using the System


Conference Calls

Call the first person that you wish to speak to.
When they are on the line press the CONF button
Enter either an extension or press a line key and enter a new phone number.
When the next party is on the line press the CONF button again.

To terminate one party and talk to the other.
Press the CO Line key or Intercom key of the party you want to remain connected.
The other party is disconnected.

To establish an unattended conference.
While having a conversation with two outside parties;
Press the CONF. key to leave the conference.
The other two people remain connected.
Press the flashing CO Line key to rejoin the conference.
By default programming, an unattended conference can only last 3 minutes. This time can be extended in the Panasonic system programming.


Forwarding Calls

To set Busy/ No Answer Forward
Press INTERCOM
Press FWD/DND
Press 5, then extension (usually 165 for Voicemail)

To set No Answer Forward
Press INTERCOM
Press FWD/DND
Press 4, then extension (usually 165 for Voicemail)

To set Call Forward to CO (to a phone line)
Press INTERCOM
Press FWD/DND
Press 6, then 9
Enter the phone number you wish to transfer the call to.
When you are done press the # (pound) key.


Using System-Wide Speed Dial Numbers / Corded Phones

Press Intercom
Press the AUTO DIAL/STORE key
Dial the 2-digit/ 3-digit or 4-digit speed dial number depending on your system model.
The number will be automatically dialed


Using System-Wide Speed Dial Numbers / Cordless Phones

Pick up the handset or turn on dial tone
Press the * (STAR) key
Dial the 2-digit/ 3-digit or 4-digit speed dial number depending on your system model.
The number will be automatically dialed.


Call Forwarding

("XXX" indicates a voicemail extension number)
All Calls - Intercom 711 XXX #
Busy/No Answer - Intercom 712 XXX #
Cancel - Intercom 710 #
To an Outside Line (If Allowed) - Intercom 713 then 9 (Phone Number) #


Away from Phone / Absent Messages

To set, press Intercom and the code listed:

Will Return Soon 751#  then hang up
Gone Home 752#  then hang up
At Ext xxx 753# Dial the Ext Number,  then hang up
Back At XX:XX, AM/PM 754# Enter the Hour (01-12) Enter the Minute (01-59) Dial 0 for AM or 1 for PM, then hang up 
Out Until XX/XX 755# Enter the Month (01-12) Enter the day (01-31),  then hang up
In A Meeting 756#  then hang up
CANCEL 750#  then hang up


Hold and Hold Exclusive Features

Press HOLD once, Call can be retrieved from any phone by pressing flashing light.
Press HOLD twice, call can only be retrieved at your phone by pressing flashing light.


Automatic Busy Callback

This will not work if you have voice mail and your phone is set to forward to voicemail when busy.

You can receive notification when a busy extension becomes free. When they are done with their call and hang up, your phone will ring (this is based on a first-come basis. If others are in line before you, their call will be before yours). Pick up the handset and the other extension will start ringing automatically.

When you call another extension and hear a busy tone, dial 6 or press the softkey below C.BCK on your display.

Listen for confirmation tone and hang-up.

This feature will be canceled if you do not answer after 4 callback rings.


Intercom Calls

(With the handset down and the speakerphone off)

Press the AUTO ANSWER key (Light turns ON)
Intercom Calls to your station will voice announce. Your phone will beep and the caller (from another station only) will speak to you over your speaker. You may talk back hands free.


Press the AUTO ANSWER key (Light turns OFF)
Intercom Calls to your station will ring. You will need to answer the call with the handset or speaker phone.

MUTE: (This feature only works when using the speakerphone.)
Turns the microphone on or off when on a speakerphone conversation. Light blinks to indicate the other party cannot hear you. Pressing again turns the microphone back on and the other party can hear you.

 

Transfer Calls

Screened Transfer: allows you to announce the call before making the connection
While having a conversation, press the TRANSFER button.
The caller is automatically placed on hold.
Dial the extension number where the call will be transferred.
Wait for an answer and announce the call.
Hang up. The call is transferred

Unscreened Transfer: Call is not announced
While having a conversation, press the TRANSFER button.
The caller is automatically placed on hold.
Dial the extension number where the call will be transferred.
Hang up. The call is transferred

 

Day / Night / Lunch Modes

You must be on the main phone (Extension 101) to change ringing mode.
Press DAY key, LUNCH key or NIGHT Key to change ringing mode. If no key available press:
INTERCOM 781# for DAY
INTERCOM 782# for NIGHT
INTERCOM 783# for LUNCH


DND (Do Not Disturb)

Allows you to prevent other parties from disturbing you. Your extension will not receive intercom or outside (CO) calls.
Turn On - Intercom 714 #
Turn Off - Intercom 710 #

 

Background Music

Background music can play through the built-in speaker of the telephone as lond as a source has been set up (CD player, radio, etc.). When you use the phone, the music will stop playing. If there is no source set up, you will hear a hiss when trying to use this feature.

Press 1 on the dial pad on any multi-line telephone to turn the music ON or OFF. The handset must be on the phone and the speakerphone turned off.

If your display phone shows BGM, press the softkey below the display to turn music ON or OFF. The handset must be on the phone and speakerphone turned off.


Using Last Number Redial

Lift the handset or press the SP-PHONE key
Press Redial button, The last number dialed will be called.
Press POUND to redial if your phone does not have a redial key.


Using Automatic Last Number Redial

(May not be available on some system versions)

Press the SP-PHONE key, Press Redial key

The last number dialed will be called. If the number is busy, you will hear busy tone and the phone will hang up. Your SP-PHONE light will flash slowly indicating the automatic redial feature is operational. After 40 seconds, your speaker will turn on and the number will be dialed again. If still busy, the sequence will be repeated up to 15 times. Number of repeat times can be adjusted in system programming.

If you answer an incoming call, the redialing process is delayed until the call is completed. Make sure you don't leave the room with this feature operational or the call could be completed while you are gone.

If you make any other calls during Automatic Redial, the feature is canceled


Call Pick-Up

There are three types of call pickup, Line, Group and Directed (to a specific extension)

Line: Allows you to pickup any incoming call that is ringing at another extension.
push Intercom 4 *

Group: Allows you to answer any other ringing telephone within your group. Using this code you can pickup incoming calls, intercom calls, and door phone calls.
push Intercom 40

Directed: Allows you to answer an incoming call at a specific extension. For example, if you are extension 110 and you are away from your phone, and you hear a ringing phone in your area. Press INTERCOM 41110 and you will be able to answer the phone. If the ringing was not at your phone, you will not answer it using this method.
push Intercom 41, Ext. No.


Adding an Answered Call to the Caller ID Log

To add an answered call into the Caller ID Log, push the CALLER ID INDICATION button while on the call.
